Calistoga Travel OverviewCalistoga is a small charming town of round and about 5;000 inhabitants and located at the foot of mount St. Helena. It is well known for its hot springs (isn't it about time that you had your first mud-bath?) and the old faithful geyser of California. The town itself has one of the oldest depots in California and the Sharpsteen Museum; named after Ben Sharpsteen who is known for his work as a producer for Walt Disney. However; don't expect Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse. The museum gives a nice overview of the history of Calistoga. Several historical remnants can still be traced in the town itself; such as the Bale Grist Mill and the Sam Brannon Cottage. Besides that; Calistoga is a good starting-point for exploration of the Bothe-Napa Valley State Park. The state park comprises a vast area filled densily with pine groves and because of the several elevations it is an interesting area to go walking and picknicking. |
